Donor Network Alliance – The Wave of the Future of IVF & Ethics
By Theresa M. Erickson
Launched just three months ago, Donor Network Alliance has become the place to go for Intended Parents looking for an egg donor. For me, this refreshing, as this industry needs to work together, not against one another. In addition, it should help keep agencies complaint with the ASRM guidelines regarding donor compensation.
According to a recent article, “Through a unique and effective collaboration of egg donor agencies through out the United States, The Donor Network Alliance (DNA) – the industry’s first ever web-based collective of egg donors – has quickly become one of the largest egg donation resources in the country with more than one thousand diverse and multi-cultural egg donor candidates.”
They also add,”Populating rapidly with egg donor candidates across the county, the simple functionality of the DNA website not only streamlines the process, it also saves aspiring parents a considerable amount of time and money during an already difficult and emotional fertility journey. For participating agencies, it provides an increase in exposure and expanded opportunities for their donors and intended parents.”
In addition, “Similar to a multiple listing for real estate agencies, the site includes listings from 20 different egg donor agencies. Prospective parents enter their search preferences—hair color, eye color, education level, race, nationality, religion, location—and out pops a list of potential donors, with their profile photos and a way to contact the agency representing them.”
I think that this a great opportity for egg donor agencies, such as Conceptual Options, and Intended Parents alike.
