Suzanne, I understand where you are coming from, and I am merely using numbers provided to me by the medical community when I stated "one in a million." The Savages are absolutely saints, and they should be credited for what they have done, as well as what they have suffered due to the physician's and/or lab's mistake.

The people you mention - the savages are friends, the 1999 case was my embryologist. 1 million women have not done IVF so I think you are off on the "one in a million".

If I know two people who have had this happen or been party to a mix up- PERSONALLY KNOW THEM - I'd say it is far more common than you think. Thankfully my IVF clinic does a 5 point check. There could be no error.

Sad for everyone. You love a baby you give birth to like it is your own - DNA does not matter.

The Savages are saints on earth. I will forever look to them as inspirational and loving.......

I don't mean to be rude but 1 in a million? hehe Human error is much greater than that. All I want to know is what kind of relief this woman will be receiving from the clinic. In a CNN interview she said she plans to use a surrogate to carry her next child. Maybe the clinic can cover those expenses.

No need to apologize for making comments, as that is what makes this country great. Yes,I do agree that human error is greater than that in many ways; however, for this particular story, I obtained by numbers from the American Fertility Association's Press Release located as follows: http://www.theafa.org/press/releases/the_american_fertility_association_responds_to_alleged_embryo_mix_up_case_i. Thanks again for commenting.
