I think Dr. Seuss’s suggestion in her book “Horton Hatches the Egg” is very appropriate. By saying “Mom had a helper” the facts can be disclosed in a sensitive manner. Personally, if I were a parent that resorted for a sperm or egg donor to have a child, I would not feel comfortable disclosing information about my child’s biological origins unless there is a real need to do the same as in the risk for developing certain health conditions that has a strong family predisposition.
